Celebrate the accomplishments of four distinguished alumni as they are inducted into SF State's Alumni Hall of Fame. They join a prestigious group of over 150 accomplished graduates who have made a positive impact in their communities and industries. The ceremony showcases the talent, drive and achievements of these SF State graduates. President Lynn Mahoney and Ben Fong-Torres (B.A. '66) will serve as hosts as the University community honors the newest inductees at The Ritz-Carlton, San Francisco.

Stephen Gillett 
MBA, 2007 
Stephen Gillett is chairman and CEO at Verily, an Alphabet company focused on research, care and public health to deliver on the promise of precision health. He’s served in a number of C-suite roles at companies including Alphabet’s Chronicle, Symantec, Starbucks and Best Buy. He’s a bestselling author, dedicated family man and honoree of Fortune’s “40 under 40” list. He earned a B.S. from the University of Oregon.
 
Evan Kidera
B.A., 2004; MBA, 2014
Evan Kidera is the co-founder and CEO of Señor Sisig, a pioneering Filipino-fusion restaurant. While earning his MBA at SF State, Kidera and his friend Gil Payumo launched their first food truck in 2010. Señor Sisig has since expanded into a fleet of food trucks and three brick-and-mortar restaurants, with a fourth opening in 2025. Kidera’s leadership has helped popularize Filipino cuisine across the Bay Area and beyond.

Genny Lim 
B.A., 1977; M.A., 1988
Genny Lim is an award-winning playwright, poet, performer, educator and community leader. A native San Franciscan, she’s a second-generation Chinese American. She’s San Francisco’s 2024 Poet Laureate and was a former SF JAZZ Poet Laureate. She’s written five poetry collections and an award-winning play and has contributed to other literary collections. She’s a former San Francisco Arts Commissioner and taught poetry at local colleges and K-12 schools.
 
Patrick Makuakāne 
B.A., 1989
Patrick Makuakāne is director of the San Franisco dance company and cultural organization Nā Lei Hulu I Ka Wēkiu, which features a traditional dance company that also blends classical hula with stylized movements and contemporary music with a theatrical flair. Performances tackle powerful topics such as colonialism. He’s an award-winning choreographer and received the prestigious MacArthur Foundation Fellowship in 2023 for his groundbreaking work in hula.
